Receiving and The Gift of You
You are the most valuable gift there is.
No matter who you are, where you are or you current circumstances your presence on this planet matters. Your words have value. Your love, your laughter, your wisdom, your talents and your ideas are needed.
In fact, in this moment, your unique perspective, character, creativity, compassion, heart and intellect are absolutely essential to the fullness of life right here, right now, as we all know it. The proof is simply that you exist.
With every word, with every deed, you send out an energetic ripple that has both immediate and lasting effect. In every single moment, you radiate a unique and beautiful energetic presence. Whether intentional or unintentional, your energy immediately impacts whomever you happen to be engaged with, and is carried by and shared by that person with whomever they interact with, and so on.
No matter your history, no matter your self-effacing stories or any pain you carry inside, you have touched more people in positive ways than you can ever know. That touch, your touch, is beautiful, unique and valuable because it comes from you—and whether you believe it or not, its reach can be infinite.
Even in your darkest hours, your presence has value and meaning. In the darkness there is always something to take notice of, to explore, and gather information from. When we allow ourselves to be present to our shadows, we create space for calling forth something deeper in our selves and in others.
We create space for transformation. It can be easy to think that asking others for help is a burden, but in actual fact, that too is part of the gift of you. It may offer an opportunity for someone to step forward and be of service, or return a favor, or recognize something in them selves. It might even give them an opportunity for them to exercise their right to say No, or Yes.
The gift of you can deliver in ways you can’t even imagine.
Behind every inspiration and every challenge there is deep wisdom and creativity, waiting to be mined and used to shift old paradigms and ways that no longer serve your highest and best good. This is when profound healing can occur. When you are present to that fact, and allow it to be true for you, you give a gift to yourself and to others.
It can be hard to digest that our presence can make such a difference. There have been many times in may life when I felt too damaged or unworthy to matter much at all. Seeing and appreciating the gift of others is often quite easy. Seeing and appreciating the gift of who we really are can be incredibly challenging. But it doesn’t have to be.
The trick is letting go—of thoughts and behaviors that reflect and contribute to duality and separation. This means letting go of tendencies to focus on the negative and allow your self to see, feel, experience and enjoy the positive, in even the simplest of things. It means breaking habits that involve analyzing and criticizing your self and others, and letting things simply be, as they are, warts and all. It means letting go of the past, and not letting it define you. It means stopping worry about what may or may not happen in the future, and just being present to what actually IS, in this moment.
In this moment, will you choose to dwell on a self-deprecating thought or look outside and notice the patterns and textures on a tree trunk or the wall of the building next door and remember that your eyes, or your ears, or your feet are beautiful miracles? All are miraculous gifts that embody the gift of you. Even the simple validation of listening to your own breathing can shift things. You are alive and because of that you are a miracle too.
The only thing that matters in this moment is what you choose to do with it.
While it can be helpful to understand the history behind why you do things that don’t serve your highest and best good, it’s not as important as your desire, intention and attention to transform these things into thoughts, behaviors and actions that better serve your self and the lives of others.
Anything less is giving away your power. When you are able to say, enough is enough, I am ready to move beyond (what I’ve perceived) my limits (to be), you begin the metamorphosis—a journey to owning who you really are, and connecting with all that is. As Amma, or Mother, the Hindu spiritual leader known for her great hugs, selfless love and compassion toward all beings, wrote:
The common expression is 'I love you"
But instead of ‘I love you,’
it would be better to say, ‘I am love--
I am the embodiment of pure love.’
Remove the I and you,
and you will find that there is only love.
It is as if love is imprisoned between the I and you.
Remove the I and you,
for they are unreal;
they are self-imposed walls that don’t exist.
The gulf between I and you is the ego.
When the ego is removed
the distance disappears and
the I and you also disappear.
They merge to become one — and that is love.
You lend the I and you their reality.
Withdraw your support and they will disappear.
Then you will realize,
not that ‘I love you,’
but that ‘I am that all-embracing love.
In the end, coming to a place of love and acceptance of oneself is the key to everything.
When we start to consider that we are a gift—that our lives are a gift and that we are love, we begin to awaken to the Truth. It is not egotistical or arrogant. It is not erasing or undermining any hurt or trauma we have experienced. On the contrary, allowing the energy of love to enter your mind and your body, allowing the energy of love to fill your heart space and core and radiate it through your body and outward from your body is you in essence saying to your self—“I see the feelings of being hurt/misunderstood/unloved. I validate this AND I allow myself to have and to be that which I need most. LOVE. So go on. Say it.

For cynics who think speaking positively to ourselves is a bunch of bunk, note the numerous medical and psychological studies that show that negative emotions can weaken the immune systems and people who have more positive mindsets can heal more quickly and effectively from everything. A study by Johns Hopkins expert Lisa R. Yanek, M.P.H., and her colleagues found that even in people with family history who had the most risk factors for coronary artery disease, and positive people from the general population were 13 percent less likely than their negative counterparts to have a heart attack or other coronary event.
The core of positive energy is within your own core. In cultivating the knowingness of your lovability – your ability to be love, give love, and receive love, your entire physiology starts to shift. This is not a brain working exercise. It is visceral, intentional, opening, Tuning in energetically and actually speaking to the cells in the body.
Dolores Cannon in The Convoluted Universe Book One says, “The awakening is the purpose. The awakening of the fact that in essence we are light, we are love. Each cell of our body, each cell and molecule of everything. The power source that runs all life is light. So to awaken to that knowledge, and to desire to operate in that realm, and to believe that it is possible, are all factors that will put you there.”
The awakening is not always easy. When you shed old skin, the peeling away can be painful. But it is far less painful to move and grow and open, than to continue to live in the confines of “not enough” or “not worthy” or “not valid”. Our intellect can entertain the idea that what comes next promises to be better, but our hearts and bodies can still feel fear, the fear of the unknown. We don’t want to leave the pain we’ve become accustomed to without knowing what we’re stepping in to. Fear becomes paralyzing when we resist it. Give up resistance. Ask for help. You many not love every step of the way—but with each step you will learn, grow and emerge. The load will become lighter, the connections more.
Do this because you not only deserve to be nurtured, supported, loved and cared for—you have a right to be.
But, you have to get out of your own way.
Others can help you, but no one can pull you out of your own rough spot if you aren’t willing to help your self. When we own it and walk with it, walk through it, a shift occurs. We begin to see that we are both more powerful and loveable than we’ve been led to believe—and than we’ve allowed ourselves to be.
How does this all work exactly? At Psychic Awakenings we learn that we are all vibration, we are all energy—and energy can be shifted and changed. Even deep seeded, difficult beliefs and feelings, patterns of behavior (and their consequences) can be shifted: into something more positive, flexible, useful—into a higher vibration. But we have to choose it. We have to be vigilant and consciously change our words, our language, our thoughts and behaviors.
These thoughts and behaviors are usually based on lies and stories we picked up as children or through media and cultural practices and beliefs that don’t serve the highest and best good. They are not true, and they are certainly not true for you. Yet their potency can be paralyzing, if we allow it. We have a choice in this as well. You are, YOU are, more powerful that you know. To tap into this power, begin to do as Amma beckons. Remove the separation between “us”, and “them”, release the habits of judgment, and know that no matter your history, no matter your pain, no matter how many times you’ve fucked things up, there is nothing wrong with you and who you are.
One of my favorite quotes is by Paulo Coelho in his book Warrior of the Light: “I’ve been through all this before,’ he says to his heart. “ ‘Yes, you have been through all this before,’ replies his heart. ‘But you have never been beyond it.' ”
And so, if you know that something is holding you back, it is time to move beyond. When we talk about living in a higher vibration, it simply means connecting, really connecting to our highest and best heart and mind, our truth, our power. This is the place where you shine the brightest and help ignite and inspire light in others. Use your words, thoughts and actions as intentional expressions of love, kindness and compassion.
With this as your motivation, there is no room for self-sabotage, self-deprecation or judgment of your self or others. Your heart begins to open with more ease and there is a profound realization that we are all on our own wild trip here, we are all doing our best to navigate both the chaos and beauty. In choosing to come back to love again and again and again we see the innocent child in every person.
There is no need to react to the negativity and judgment passed by others, because we understand where it comes from. We understand it is nothing personal. Criticism that comes from you or from others, is a red flag that there is something to heal within. It is a call to remember who you really are: the most valuable gift.

Our mind is uniquely prepared to experience the continuity of time. While we are advised to live in the here and now, we all wander into the past or future. Our memory and imagination vary greatly from person to person. Even if you can remember every detail from your life, nobody can recall how these events affected them. The mind automatically filters out certain experiences out of normal memory. So, what kind of stuff becomes unavailable to our own thinking? Actually, there is a lot of information that never gets stored in our memory banks in the first place but, even more importantly, there are plenty of experiences that cannot be recalled because they are repressed - kept out of our awareness some how. These are the memories worth analyzing because they sit there deep inside the mind affecting our lives nonetheless. Hypnosis is one of the best ways to help people access those “buried” memories. Everyone has memories or experiences in their unconscious mind that they may not be able to recall but still play a significant role in everyday life. Hypnotic Regression is the process by which you enter a trance and recall material from deep inside that is normally not available to the conscious mind.
Hypnosis enables the mind to travel more easily across the dimension of time. Regression is the process by which the hypnotist guides you back through time to particular events that need to be examined. It is actually relatively simple; you are suggested to travel back through the years to recall specific memories. There are a number of effective techniques to facilitate this process. The hypnotic trance enhances your ability to remember events that you otherwise cannot recall. A good question is ‘why is it difficult to recall some memories and not others?’ Part of this answer can actually be attributed to Freud who described the function of the unconscious mind in great detail. Although many of Freud’s theories have been widely contested, the idea that the mind is made up of different levels of awareness and activity has been substantiated by empirical research and the observation of countless experts in psychology. The research into the formation and use of language demonstrates “unconscious” levels at which words, thoughts, and sentences are created. This deeper unconscious sphere of mental activity can be compared to an iceberg, the large bulk of which is out-of-sight beneath the ocean surface. Similarly, your mind has many activities that operate outside your awareness for good reasons. The brain evolved to economize our focus of attention to limit the amount of what is in our awareness. Consequently, there can be a large amount of mental stuff that you are not aware of but may still have an important function.
Regression can be used to help recall events from the other night or from any point of your lifetime. It can help you remember specific details of an event or even better, to observe it objectively and to understand its meaning and significance. It certainly can be a very powerful psychological tool to dive into the deeper parts of the mind.
The real problem is that we all experience a variety of events that were unpleasant, painful, embarrassing, or just difficult to cope with, which sometimes push these memories out of the conscious mind down into that hidden reservoir of the mind - the unconscious. These can be traumatic experiences, or just awkward ones that we do not want to remember or cannot recall because they were repressed out of awareness. Everybody has memories buried in the unconscious. Most of these memories are not that scary or horrible but some can be very uncomfortable to face. Many of the more dramatic things that happened to you as a child are resting in your unconscious, even if you can remember these events, some of their effects remain unobservable to the average person. That is where hypnosis comes in.
Through a trance we can open the door to the unconscious mind and help find the conflicts, turmoil, hidden pain, expose the obstacles, the self sabotage, and reveal the invisible connections between events and feelings. Regression done by a skilled professional can be very healing and transformative. It often brings up new insights into how your mind works and what really happened to you as a child. Most of the memories revealed are not tragic or horrific but, they often help heal the wounds or conflicts we experience in daily life. Occasionally, traumatic events can come up that require very skilled resolution. That is precisely why, it is important that hypnotic regressions are performed by highly skilled doctors that know how to carefully dig for these memories without ever “planting” false memories into the person.
article continues after advertisementI have performed thousands of regressions on my clients and am often struck by the surprising nature of the material that is recalled. People can recall the most subtle small details of an event when they were just 5 years old that they never thought of before. This is how, much of the healing in the mind occurs, revealing the unconscious thoughts, memories, conflicts etc, to the awareness. The therapist must help the client resolve these issues often during the trance and then afterwards a significant amount of counseling may be required to help this person utilize these insights and new awareness in constructive and beneficial ways.
Healing the unconscious mind refers to the process of eliminating unwanted and unnecessary problems in the mind that block you from enjoying a healthy, happy and fulfilling life. Many things can rob us of positive progress in our lives. One area that should be considered, when other explanations have been exhausted is memories buried in the unconscious mind. Hypnosis and regression therapy, in skilled hands, can often help remove blockages and heal suffering. It can be a quick process or it may take considerable time and work; that depends on many factors. In short, this technique can often uncover the material hidden beneath the surface.
If you have experienced many psychological problems in your life, and all your efforts to resolve these issues in the direct conscious manner have not been successful, then trying hypnotic regression may offer you a potential solution. First, you must be prepared to dig deeper and be willing to confront whatever comes up. Secondly, you must do this with a qualified expert with whom you are prepared to invest the time and energy to go through this process. Thirdly, remain open and curious to utilize whatever emerges to resolve the problems and move forward in your life. I am certain that every person can make such positive progress.

I am an energy healing practitioner and I teach energy healing to clients and groups. I think it's super important that we understand how energy flows in our bodies and that we can, on our own, shift and release energy to feel less stress and support our overall health and well-being.

I recent interviewed Dr. Ann Marie Chiasson, a Family Medicine doctor trained in Integrative Medicine who is also an energy healer. I learned a lot from our conversation which you can hear by going to http://www.voiceamerica.com/show/1888/the-vital-life-awakening-your-full....
Energy healing or energy medicine is something that's used in conventional medicine when we do MRI's or other types of scanning and many other procedures. We just don't call it that. In complementary and alternative medicine, energy healing includes Reiki, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Healing Touch and many other modalities. Acupuncture is also a form of energy healing. Disease results from an imbalance or blockage in our body's vital energy. By removing the blockage or stimulating the flow of energy, our body can naturally heal itself. Dr. Chiasson described depression, for example as a disconnection of the energy body from our physical body. In her work with depression, she tries to "ground" a person's energy lower in the body in order to heal the depression. Energy healing is not always immediate and often is enhanced by self-healing techniques of energy medicine including toe tapping and others which she describes in her DVD: "Energy Healing for Beginners" (www.soundstrue.com).
I also found it interesting that Dr. Chiasson says that the energy in our bodies is not ours. It comes from the earth's magnetic field in her opinion. Blocked energy can result in chronic pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia or chronic pelvic pain. It's as if there is a lot of energy trying to flow through the body but the channels are blocked and energy gets stuck. The place you feel the pain may not actually be the source of the blockage. For example, elbow pain may result from inflammation or blocked energy in the shoulder. Addictions may show up in the energy body as an excess of anxiety.
There are simple techniques such as just putting your hands on a part of your body that feels in pain or uncomfortable. Automatically, you may find that your hands "turn on" - they may become warm or tingly or even cold. This is healing energy and you can direct it to any part of your body that needs healing or to increase your level of energy during the day when you feel tired.
Dr. Chiasson says we are born with a supply or yolk sack of energy that we use up by about age 40. After that, we need to gather more energy through daily exercise, being in nature, listening to healing music. We also need to be aware of the stagnation of energy or blocks to our energy body that eventually may cause disease. The disease will first manifest in our energy body and then in the physical body oftentimes.
Simple exercises in energy healing can restore normal energy flow in the body and facilitate healing. This is healing on a deeper level.

Let me first give you my simplified definition of depression. Depression is a state of feeling “bad” most of or all the time. It is the experience of being in a vibration of very low, uncomfortable energy that has little or no relief.
At the finest levels of our being, our quantum self, we are all energy. Subtle energies that are unseen to the eye (by most people) vibrate within us and around us constantly. Depression is a very uncomfortable energy state to exist in. The reason it is so uncomfortable is because it contradicts the truth of who we are and who God created us to be. God created us to be in a state of high joy vibration energy.
The good news about depression is it is not who you really are. Your depression is not your identity it is your experience. It is an energy experience that has taken a hold of your life. Since it is not your identity, you can change it. It will require doing some energy work and clearing of the limiting beliefs, both conscious and subconscious to allow you to feel better.
Your subconscious limiting beliefs held within your being feed the negative energy you are experiencing. Your conscious negative thoughts continue to feed the negative energy. Most people suffering from depression have a tendency towards negative thinking. They assume that if they feel bad, they must be bad. You are always free to choose whatever thought you want. Even if you are processing some uncomfortable negative energy, you are always free to think a positive thought. It is appropriate when a lot of emotion is coming up to say to yourself “I am clearing this negative energy. It is no longer serving me to experience this in my life.”
When We Need Depression
I have worked with numerous clients that have a hidden motivation or need for their depression. We need our illness when we believe it is keeping us safe from something we fear. Many people come into this world at birth with hesitation and anxiety. They start their life wanting to leave it. As adults they are still not really wanting to be here. They have a perception that the world is not a safe place and there is not enough love for them. Depression becomes a good friend that is always there when they need it. It sticks by them and keeps them safe from the unpredictable risks in the world. Some common deeper beliefs held in the subconscious and conscious mind are:
If you have been depressed for a long time, your body is now believing that is what being alive feels like. Without the depression, your body may think it is going to die. With the use of your mind and your faith, you can retrain your body to operate at a higher frequency of energy so it can once again know itself in light and truth.
Birth and DepressionConsider the possibility that the origin of a lot of your depression is connected with your birth. If your mother was anxious, depressed, worried, troubled during your gestation, you took on all that energy in the earliest formation of you. Most people are walking around still carrying and trying to process out their birth energy. If you had a complicated gestation or delivery you were hit from the very beginning with some big negatives that were imprinted in your psyche. Your Dead Ancestors May Be Keeping You DepressedFrom personal experience and working with hundreds of clients, I have come to the conclusion that there is a generational pattern of depression for most people. You can trace depression back in my family line for several generations. I believe most people who are dealing with painful life experiences are playing a role in healing their generations and breaking family patterns. If your great-grandma never addressed her negative emotions and they never were cleared, that energy and information has been passed on to you in the genetics of your family. You can clear what your body holds at a cellular level so you can heal yourself and clear the pattern of depression from your family.
A process to clear your generational depression:
Imagine yourself standing in the light with a higher power (Christ, angels, God, spirit, etc.), Ask your generations that have lived before you to come into the light. Imagine all these people in the light with you. Ask your higher self of all the depression you have experienced, how much of it is generational and how much is your own. You will get two numbers that equal 100%. For most people the generational percent is over 50% and their part is less than 50%. It is usually 70-30, 80-20. Tell your ancestors you are choosing to clear this pattern from the family. Draw a picture of a garbage can on a sketchpad. Place the pattern of depression in the garbage can with all the negative beliefs and emotions that you have experienced with it into the garbage can also. When it is all in the garbage can, enlarge the picture of the garbage can as big as you can imagine it. Look at it as an observer and say “Its just energy. I am not in the picture. I am the one looking at the picture.” Now create a blowtorch and set your picture on fire and watch it burn into ashes.
Take the ashes and spread them on the ground. Watch beautiful flowers grow up through the ashes returning life-giving energy to you and your ancestors. Imagine every cell in your body being filled with life giving energy. How does that feel? Imagine your ancestors cheering for you and congratulating you for your choice to clear this pattern.
Yes, You Can Heal
I believe that whatever we are challenged by in our lives, God gave us the mechanism within us to heal it. There is literally a blueprint for healing held in your DNA that has all the information your mind and body needs to heal. I believe that we created illness to teach us the capacity we have to exist in difficult states and to turn us to a higher power to seek help. Calling upon Christ energy or the energy of the heavens activates the healing powers that lay dormant within us. As you put your attention on light and truth, light and truth awakens within you. Don’t wait until you feel better to think well. Your mind is a higher power than your emotions and your mind can raise the vibration of your emotional state as you clear away the lies and illusions you carry and call forth the truth of who god created you to be. You can create whatever you want with your life. The god I believe in did not cast us down here to live in a state of despair to die in that state. I believe he guaranteed our ability to succeed by endowing us with all that we need to create success.
For most people being depressed is familiar. Feeling good is not. Often we choose what is familiar over what feels good because we know how to exist there and it feels safe. I believe we live at a time on the planet where it is becoming increasingly more difficult to stay depressed. It will require more work to stay in depression than heal it. The real challenge for us as humans is no longer “how much can we suffer?” It is “how much joy can we hold and how long can we hold it?” Consider the possibility you chose into and created your experience of depression just to see yourself overcome it. As big as you have known depression is as big as you can now know joy. Chose to become one of God’s miracles and clear and heal what is no longer serving you. God bless you, I know you can do it.
